We lose track of it.
It "gets away" from us.
Sometimes, it "runs away" from us.
It "goes by so slowly, and time....can..."
It "heals all wounds."
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."
~Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8
I know that my God holds eternity in His hands. He is the Beginning and the VERY End (Revelation 1: 8). He is the First and the Last (Revelation 1: 17). He is the King over TIME:
"The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. the world is firmly established; it cannot be moved. Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity." ~Psalm 93: 1-2
So, why IS IT that time seems to go SO SLOWLY when we are WAITING? 2 Peter 3: 8 explains:
"...With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
In short, the Lord's priorities are NOT ours. He is fighting battles that we have NO knowledge of when we are waiting. That's why He reminds us in Psalm 27:14 to "Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." The Lord's "thousand year-long day" seems to us an ETERNITY, but when we acknowledge that the Lord holds eternity in HIS hands, that "thousand-year-long day" doesn't seem so long. We might think, "God, I need this reconciled, and I need it NOW!" But, He knows better. He knows what soul deep work that He and I can do DURING the wait. We work on TRUST. We work on HEALING. We work on FORGIVENESS...during the wait. We work on PATIENCE, PEACE, GRACE during the wait.
So, I guess time really DOES "heal all wounds," when you factor in GOD, who HOLDS that time in His hands. Rejoice in the wait. Find joy in the silent times, the times to search, the times of mourning and weeping, because the God of Heaven...the God of TIME...is doing BIG THINGS IN YOU.
Grace and Peace~
